The UGR86 USB GPS Receiver plays a vital role in enhancing the Aadhaar enrollment process by enabling real-time location tracking during biometric data capture, including iris and fingerprint scans. It ensures each Aadhaar registration is geotagged for compliance and audit purposes. The device aligns with STQC and UIDAI mandates by integrating GPS into the ECMP Aadhaar enrollment client.

Beyond Aadhaar, the UGR86 is also widely used at J&K CSP banking points across India. These mini bank setups—require GPS-enabled systems to comply with regulatory norms, track service locations, and authenticate digital transactions securely.

Mandatory GPS Enforcement via Sync Procedure

To enforce GPS use, the Sync procedure has been made mandatory with the ECMP client. The UGR86 captures accurate latitude and longitude data, enabling geo-fencing, real-time monitoring, and device control—all of which are vital for both Aadhaar projects and CSP banking operations. This helps prevent misuse and strengthens data integrity.

UIDAI GPS Compliance – Mandatory Since 2017

As per UIDAI directives, all ECMP Aadhaar enrollment systems must have GPS integrated. The deadline of March 15, 2017, marked the mandatory implementation of this regulation. Devices lacking GPS capability are considered non-compliant. The UGR86 ensures full compliance, making it an indispensable tool for Enrollment Agencies (EAs) and Banking CSPs alike.
